Freight forwarding and customs clearance for food and ingredients
Frozen, chilled, and ambient food moved under Thai FDA and destination-market rules.
Pain points
Common challenges
-
Cold chain compliance
Temperature has to hold across several modes and several carriers, with no gap in the record and no sensor failure anyone finds out about at the destination.
-
Regulatory complexity
FDA prior notice, health and phytosanitary certificates, and destination-specific import rules each turn into a costly hold when they are handled late.
-
Lead time pressure
Short shelf life leaves no slack: a missed sailing or a customs hold is not a delay, it is a write-off.
How we move Food & Ingredients
- Reefer FCL and LCL for frozen and chilled cargo, with temperature set points confirmed in writing before loading
- Airfreight for short-shelf-life and sample shipments
- Ambient dry food, ingredients, and additives by sea or land
- Bonded warehousing and cross-docking in the Bangkok area
Common questions
Food & Ingredients: common questions
Do I need a Thai FDA licence to import food into Thailand?
Yes. Importing food into Thailand requires an FDA (อย.) import licence held by the importer, and most products also need their own registration or notification. We check both before booking, because the licence has to exist before the goods arrive — it cannot be arranged while a container sits at the port.
How do you keep frozen cargo at temperature in transit?
The temperature set point is agreed in writing before loading and stated on the booking, so the carrier records it. For reefer containers we confirm the pre-cooling and the set point at origin, and we ask the carrier for the temperature log on arrival if the consignee needs it for their own quality records.
What happens if a food shipment is held for inspection?
We are notified as the declaring broker and respond the same working day. Most holds are documentary — a mismatch between the declared tariff heading and the product, or a certificate that names a different manufacturer — and are cleared by filing the correct paperwork. We tell you immediately what is missing and what the likely delay is.
